Our Creative Approach to Wellbeing

When people feel understood and supported, they are better able to connect with others, engage socially, and participate more fully in daily life.

By nurturing emotional wellbeing alongside creativity, these approaches support children to engage in learning and school life, while helping older adults maintain connection, cognitive function and a sense of belonging within their community.

Bloom offers individual, school, home and aged care-based counselling that integrates music, art and play-based therapeutic approaches. These inclusive modalities provide alternative ways for children and older adults to identify, explore and express their feelings and experiences, particularly for those who may find traditional talk-based approaches difficult.

Through creative expression, Bloom supports individuals to feel safe, understood and connected, enhancing resilience and confidence, while also supporting emotional regulation, cognitive function and a sense of identity and belonging.

Supporting Wellbeing Through
Music, Art and Play

  • Bloom offers creative, non-verbal approaches to counselling, supporting individuals who may find traditional talk-based therapy difficult or inaccessible. Using music, art and play, we help people navigate anxiety, big emotions, social challenges, grief, behavioural or mood changes, and experiences related to ageing. These approaches provide a natural and engaging way to express feelings, process experiences, stay connected, and build confidence, without relying on words alone.

  • Individuals instinctively communicate through expression, play, creativity and movement long before they can fully explain their thoughts and feelings with words. Creative counselling uses these natural forms of expression to help individuals explore emotions, build skills and feel understood.

Sessions may include activities such as:

    • Rhythmic grounding
    • Expressive art
    • Play-based storytelling
    • Sensory play
    • Movement with Music
    • Song writing

Each session is guided by the individual’s needs and interests, creating a supportive space where they can build confidence, develop skills and strengthen their independence.

  • This approach may be a good fit for a person who:

    • Finds it hard to put feelings into words
    • Feels anxious, overwhelmed or worried
    • Struggles to regulate emotions or experiential processing
    • Experiences social challenges
    • Has difficulty engaging in traditional talk-based counselling
    • Has physiological barriers to speech

If you're unsure whether this approach is the right fit, you're welcome to get in touch to discuss the options available.

  • Bloom supports individuals who have NDIS funding under Capacity Building supports.

Sessions focus on helping people develop practical skills that contribute to their NDIS goals, such as:

    • building emotional regulation and coping skills
    • improving social interaction and communication
    • developing confidence and self-expression
    • supporting participation and engagement at school
    • strengthening relationships with peers and adults

Sessions must be aligned with an individual’s NDIS goals and functional capacity-building outcomes, with progress focused on supporting individuals to participate more confidently in everyday environments.

Bloom is not a registered NDIS Provider and can only support individuals on self-managed or plan-managed funds.
